PostSubject: Stages and WiFi   Mon May 17, 2010 1:16 am

I feel like certain stages are more laggy than others online, particularly at the start of matches. Anyone else notice a trend with this or is it just random lag or my imaaaagination?

If there is a trend would it make sense to further limit competitive/tryout stage choices for wifi matches (perhaps only where parties are mutually agreeable)?

Just curious what others think about this.

Moving stages are horrible online, as well as stages with a complex background like FD. I find that Battlefield, Yoshi's Island, and Smashville are the best stages for WiFi, but that's just me. There's also Norfair, Brinstar, and Pictochat also seem to play well, but it very well be all in my head.
I just know that Dusk has a theory about FD's background slowing things up, and I know that stages like RC and Delphino are full of fail.

Yeah, as far as neutral stages go FD lags a lot, or seems to. Possibly just at the beginning but I could also see it being at a specific part of the background cycle which just happens to start out the cycle.

I also find Battlefield to be a bit laggy sometimes, usually at the start then it seems to drag itself up to pace. Not as bad as Final Destination in any case.

Personally I think FD is lag city

So what do you all think in regards to the second question then? Should laggy stages be cut out of wifi "tournament" lists? Should people be expected simply to refine lag skills?

WiFi tourney stages should be those used in the AiB ladders. The people who run things over there have the most experience at competitive brawl online, so I'm going to default rule settings to them.

Fair point. I suppose this topic is about done, unless people want to start rating stages according to perceived lag. Yay whining!

I don't find any difference at all in the lag on stages. And I'm not imagining things, I'm seeing them.
